Why crates?

If you follow Just Off Pine on social media, or, if you have attended one of the Markets we present at, surely you have seen our larger than life crates. The Just Off Pine crates cause a sensation wherever we go. The fact is, they are very appealing. I have found that most people find them fascinating. And that's good, as they in effect have become our signature piece, our brand, the thing that people recognize.

So, why crates? Well, it's simple and it's complicated too. Mostly, it's about logistics. I needed a way to transport our up to date vintage furnishings and décor. I also needed a way to display these furnishings in a creative and attractive manner and somehow tie in the farmhouse look I am trying to promote. When setting up a pop up shop at a Market or creating a space at the local vendor mall, I wanted something unique, functionally safe and recognizable. And, of course, high impact. What's that saying? "Go big, or go home!"

I convinced my husband that I needed a few crates. He suggested that the local big box store had several I could choose from. I responded with my usual "now don't be ridiculous" and whipped out my pad and pencil and started sketching. After several hours of discussion, debates about size and material, as well as, reminders of who said they were going to help- the Just Off Pine crate was born. And it was perfect! My hubby did a marvelous job constructing my signature crate. We were both so pleased...….that is until I reminded him that I needed total of 18!
